第22节在这个里也有煞尾的性质：它是第五章里那个漫长雨夜的收梢，也是迄今为止所有已经发生的事的总结。这个故事其实到这里也可以结束：莱昂在大雨里走出去找柯特，结局未知。——这是我在最初构思的时候考虑的结局。因为这个故事的结构是前半部（一到四章）的叙事，在后半部（第五章）通过主角的思索重新诠释了一遍意义，所以在第五章结束时故事就已经是完整的了。
但在写下这个故事的过程中，我发现我还是喜欢（或需要）一个交代完整的完满结局。——事实是，我在写到大半的时候实在觉得难过，就把结局先写好了：依靠这个美好结局让自己撑着写完了那些最令人伤感的部分。

十四行诗第90首
第五章的标题是致敬十四行诗第90首中的
“风暴的夜继以阴雨的晨”一句，如同第六章的标题致敬十四行诗第18首“我可否将你比作一个夏日”。
在第24节里提到的两句“一切苦痛都算不得是苦痛，同失去你这件事相比”亦出自十四行诗第90首。
